Our Pack!

Come meet our Amado pack and hear their stories!

Here is our beautiful amado pack....... Moko (left), Nikita (center) and Nenuk (right). It is hard to believe that Nenuk isn't even 18 months old yet in this picture! He sure is a big boy!

Lets start with our very first Husky ........ Moko. In 2006, we were finally in the position to add a puppy to our family and we decided to get a Husky. We had done our research and was fully prepared to give one of these incredible dogs a happy loving home. My husband just loved the look of the red ones so we set out to find our puppy! I remember calling numerous breeders and even driving to different towns/ cities in search of our perfect puppy. I do have to admit that it was a bit frustrating seeing all of those puppies but yet not getting one to take home. We felt it was a very important decision and not one we should rush. We had a bit of a checklist of what kind of breeder we were willing to buy from and then there was the puppy itself. We ended up calling a gentleman in Edmonton who met all of our standards, so we headed to Edmonton to see the puppies. There were so many cute Husky puppies it was kind of hard to pick. My hubby was drawn to this one puppy that was pretty calm and cute and it decided to just sit down beside him. I was checking all the puppies out, I wanted to see each of their personalities! We were there for a bit while I was checking them all out and the whole time, that cute little puppy was just chilling out with my hubby. Near the end of our visit, the puppies all piled together and went to sleep. All accept one..... that one little red guy had curled and gone to sleep at my hubby's feet! We knew then, that was our puppy! He was perfect and he seemed to pick us just as much as we picked him! We were so excited to finally have our Husky puppy!! So on November 18, 2006 we brought our puppy home! Its been a whirlwind of adventures since!
Our Moko 8 weeks old!

Moko was raised with our 2 cats and when our Bandit had kittens, Moko had a lot of fun with all of them. It IS possible for Huskies to get along with cats, it just takes the time to train them!!

He sure has a presence about him

What a handsome dog he has grown into!

We love you Moko!

Next, the end of March in 2008, we brought Nikita into our family. We decided that we wanted to get Moko a friend that he could run and play with ..... like a dog! We searched for a friend and came across an ad for a beautiful Husky that was a year old already and her current owners could no longer keep her. We hopped into our truck to go check her out and of course we took Moko with us, after all, we needed to know how they would get along! We got there and wow was Nikita beautiful! There was just one issue, she didn't like being around people! She wasn't aggressive at all, she would avoid being in the same room if at all possible! Even treats wouldn't lure this dog to come say hi. I thought this was very strange for a Husky, usually they are all up in your face friendly! That all changed once we brought Moko into the house to meet her! She didn't even care that we were touching her, she just wanted to play with Moko! We really liked her and decided to bring her home with us. It took a lot of work and patience working with her but she no longer avoids people. Actually, she is quite vocal about saying her hellos when people come to visit! I'm so glad we were able to bring her into our pack and give her a happier more balanced life! I am so proud that she is nothing like she was when she first came home with us. Thanks to all of my friends and family who helped out with Nikita!

I call her my Sweetpea!

Our next addition came to us on January 12, 2009. Nenuk was this big huge fluff ball! We had boughten back Decimus, one of our 2008 puppies, because things had changed for the couple who had originally bought him. A lady contacted me interested in him and as we talked, she mentioned she had Husky/ Malamute puppies and she sent us pictures of them. As soon as my hubby saw the big fluffy puppy, he had to have him! So, we arranged to make a trade and we drove about 5 hrs to make the swap. When we went to see the puppies, he was twice as big as his litter mates and twice as fluffy too! He was 8 weeks old and was ready to come and join our pack! He weighed in at 23lbs when we got home and hasn't really stopped growing! He is a perfect addition to our pack and is doing a great job pulling the dog sled. I truly do believe that everything happens for a reason!
