Sledding Adventures

We have been so fortunate to meet an amazing couple that have taken us under their wing and have given us the opportunity to actually dog sled. Of course, at the moment we don't have enough dogs, no sled, gear and lets face it... didn't have any experience! I believe they came into our lives for a reason. They came to check out our 2009 litter of puppies and we started talking and before we knew what happened, like 4 hours had passed and I felt like I had known this couple forever! I guess thats when my dream to dog sled actually started to become a reality! They both really loved Nenuk's size and personality and wanted to see how he would do on the sled so we planned to add him to their team's training sessions that fall. That was in just a few months and I was so excited! My dream was starting to come true! I was to go out and learn everything about gang lines, tie downs, rigging up the sled and all of that! I was a little disappointed because we didn't really get to do much sledding until late December but the snow finally came and we could go out! So every Saturday, I went out to their place to learn, help and just enjoy the awesomeness that is dog sledding! By this point, they were boarding Nenuk at their place, that way he could  get more experience sledding whenever they went out during the week. It was such an incredible experience for me and I'm  totally hooked and there is no going back! Not only did I get to enjoy myself, my husband and our son got turns  mushing. They also really enjoyed themselves and are excited to get out again this winter. Our Moko is actually out joining in on this falls training sessions and he is doing great! Our Nikita can't join this winter as we are expecting another litter of puppies! Next year it will be her turn to join the fun! Our son, Austin, started out with one dog but was soon moved on to 2 dogs. I'm so proud and I can't wait until we're all heading out together with our own teams on a dog sledding adventure! I think I've wrote enough for now, I hope you enjoy the pictures, there will definitely be more to come once the snow starts flying again. Without our beloved dogs, none of this would be possible and I am so very thankful for each and every one of them!

I love this picture! Go Nenuk Go!!
There's my little musher in the making! I'm so proud!
Hubby's turn! Go Neptune Go!
I'm so excited to share that I have been taken on my first sled ride with our Moko as part of the team!! It was a beautiful day and both my husband and myself were able to go out together with our own teams! Enjoy the pictures!
